Children's writing: The Prize - by Alicia

I was intrigued by the plot in this story, Alicia. You describe the character as having a dangerous stage ahead - 'The Prize'. But, this is not an ordinary prize.
So, we have to read on to find out!
Great writing technique to drip feed us key information. Well done!
Let's read ...
The Prize
I stood on the podium, shivering as the strong light glowered above me. Finally, the host strapped a golden medal around my neck which sparkled.
That night, I swung myself onto the comfortable canopy bed afforded by the hotel. Tired as a mouse, I thought of the dangerous stage ahead. The Prize. It wasn’t the ordinary prize you thought it was: money, jewels etc….
Shivering, I wrapped the blanket around myself like a snake trying to strangle me as a gust of powerful wind raced by. I fell into a dream. A dream with dragons, shooting volleys of fire to engulf me. The heat was intense. It was hotter than the sun. I screamed with fear as the flame licked my delicate pale skin, burning my very existence. Thick plums of flint-grey smoke rose up. The end of the world’s countdown had begun.
I woke up all sweaty, screaming everyone to death. I checked myself for scratches and burns and heaved in relief as not a single scratch was covering on me. The marmalade sun shone on the world gloomily instead of the usual cheerful smile with bliss of happiness exploding.
Exhausted, all I wanted to do was to flop back into the canopy bed, with all the stress gone. However, we had to pack and leave for our first mission of the prize. The host handed each of us a piece of paper with a passage which was the clue to save the world “You are the honored ones that were chosen to save the world from the dark side of kidaharoe with Empress Lauzee as their leader. In case you can’t read the paper, I’ll say it out loud, “the hose bellowed, ”the first sign of the end of the world is a great thunderstorm, second, night dwellers. Third, Agmas. The last is a battle. A bloody one where no sides will survive.” Night dwellers? Agmas? Nothing made sense. Crackle! Boom! A bolt of lightning shot passed the window, causing everyone to shriek. Just one day here and all the horrors have just started.
It was up to the prize winners to save the world. Will we succeed?
